![]() James A. Montgomery, Ph.D
James Montgomery is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Studies at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. He received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in geology from Baylor University, and his Ph.D. in soil science from Washington State University. Dr. Montgomery served as chair of the Department of Environmental Science and Studies from 2004-2010. He teaches a variety of general education courses for non-science majors on various aspects of environmental science, including urban impacts on the natural environment and natural resource management. In addition he teaches the senior environmental capstone course on moral reasoning and science ethics for environmental science and studies majors. For ten years he taught a course on NEPA and environmental assessment for environmental science majors. His research interests include urban and wetland soils and wetland hydrology and water quality. Dr. Montgomery is a former President of the Illinois Association of Environmental Professionals (IAEP) and is currently editor of the journal, Environmental Practice, the flagship journal of the National Association of Environmental Professionals (IAEP). He currently serves as co-chair of DePaul’s Sustainability Initiatives Task Force. |
