An Overview of the Endangered Species Act through the Lens of the Jaguar

This presentation will provide an overview of several sections of the Endangered Species Act. It will then walk the audience through how these sections applied to the listing, critical habitat, and recovery planning of the jaguar.

Marit Alanen is a Fish and Wildlife Biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. She has worked for the agency for over 13 years, and has been engaged with wildlife in southern Arizona since 1996 when she moved to Tucson to pursue her Master's Degree in Wildlife Ecology at the University of Arizona.
