Registration is now open for the 2nd cohort of the Certificate in Climate Action Planning through the Gonzaga University!

The Certificate in Climate Action Planning is a fully online program designed to help you develop knowledge, skills and best practices to create and implement climate action plans. Through engaging live classes, practical assignments, and expert presenters, you’ll gain tools to mobilize community members in reaching emission-reduction and climate resiliency goals. This is an ideal way to earn a professional credential (including 70 APA CM credits) while learning to create and steer a climate action plan for your tribal community, school, or city.

Course outcomes:
• Gain communication tools to engage with stakeholders in politically diverse climates.
• Understand the key principles of greenhouse gas accounting.
• Learn how to conduct a climate impact assessment and climate vulnerability assessment with attention to equity, social and environmental justice.
• Create a climate action plan as a deliverable of the course.

  • Duration: 4.5 months/ 18 weeks
  • Dates: September 17, 2024 to February 11, 2025    
    • Breaks during Thanksgiving and December holidays.
  • Format: Zoom classes held Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:30 PM PDT (7:00 - 8:30 PM EST)
    • Ideal for those who prefer to learn face-to-face within a community of peers.
  •  Cost: $3,500

  • Time commitment: Approx. 2-3 hours per week of reading and work outside of class sessions, ideal for those working full-time.
  • Credits: 7 Continuing Education Credits on a Gonzaga University transcript.
