Explore-SC Series Event: SCDNR Freshwater Mussel Propagation Facility

NAEP-SC is excited to introduce our next Explore-SC Series event at the SCDNR Freshwater Mussel Propagation Facility in West Columbia. This facility began its freshwater mussel program in 2018 and plays a vital role in the conservation and restoration of native freshwater mussel species such as the federally endangered Carolina Heelsplitter. This program promotes conservation of native mussel species, propagates, and reintroduces mussels into habitats where populations have declined, and provides research and monitoring of mussel health, reproduction, and habitat conditions. Come join us as we tag along with SCDNR and explore the propagation facility. This event is free. Tour sizes will be limited so please register online so we can provide a head count to SCDNR.
