Surface Water Identification and Training Course (SWITC)

Hosted by the North Carolina Association of Environmental Professionals

Staff of Moffatt & Nichol (John Dorney) and Penrose Environmental (Dave Penrose) will conduct a four-day course on the latest version (Version 4.11, September 1, 2010) of the North Carolina methodology for identifying intermittent and perennial streams and their origins March 5–8, 2019, in Charlotte, NC. This class is organized by and taught through the NC Association of Environmental Professionals (NCAEP).

This lecture and field course will focus on the method which is the standard method used across the state and the southeast by the NC Division of Water Resources and many local governments to identify intermittent and perennial streams and their origins. The course will be taught in and near Charlotte, NC, and will focus on piedmont streams located in three different Level IV ecoregions—Southern Outer Piedmont, Slate Belt, and Triassic Basin in varying condition.

This class is offered in coordination with the NC Division of Water Resources and follows the same curriculum as the course taught by DWR instructors. Upon successful completion, students will receive a Certificate of Training which can be used with delegated or designated local governments. Cost of the class is $825 for NCAEP members and $850 for non-NCAEP members. Please feel free to contact John Dorney at [email protected] or by phone at (919) 522-6364 if you have any additional questions.
