Coronavirus Updates & Resources

Updated March 26, 2020

We have received some inquiries from symposium registrants about how our plans are evolving in light of the emerging public health concerns posed by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). NAEP is closely monitoring updates from the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the situation in communities where cases of the virus have been confirmed.

A Message From The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

The wellbeing of our guests and associates is our top priority. We are closely monitoring recommendations from local, state and federal health officials regarding the novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) and are following their guidelines. We take standards for hygiene and cleanliness very seriously.  Our health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of viruses, including COVID-19, and include everything from handwashing hygiene and cleaning product specifications to guest room and common area cleaning procedures. Travelers are encouraged to always exercise healthy travel habits when traveling and to follow guidance issued by official sources of public health information. At this time, the risk to Americans remains low and there are no restrictions on travel anywhere within the United States. Additionally the Resort is adding:

  • 15 public area hand sanitizing stations in high-traffic areas of hotel – ordered and due to arrive this week
  • Additional attendants 7 days per week to wipe down and sanitize door knobs, handrails. elevator call buttons, counters, etc.
  • All kitchen and housekeeping personnel mandated glove usage
  • Complimentary sanitizing wipes for usage at guest discretion – ordered and due to arrive this week
  • Staff training on preventative measures and sanitary requirements for the prevention of the virus in hotel

How Is the 2020 NAEP Conference and Training Symposium Affected?

NAEP wants to assure our symposium attendees that we are proceeding as planned to hold a safe, educational, fun and successful event May 18-21. There are currently no travel restrictions or advisories to or from or within Fort Lauderdale or the state of Florida.

The safety of our attendees remains our highest priority and we continue to monitor the COVID-19 developments closely. Attendees can expect to see heightened levels of cleanliness and onsite accommodations to actively encourage all conference participants to take common-sense precautions following CDC guidelines when they are onsite at the event.

We look forward to seeing you in Fort Lauderdale! Please direct all questions to [email protected].
